The interest rate applicable to your client’s GIC is the posted rate on the day we receive your client’s completed application and money. Interest is calculated based on the principal balance of your client’s GIC for the number of days in the term on the basis of a year of 365 days. Interest on GICs of less than two years is paid at maturity and interest on GICs of two years or more is either paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly or compounded annually and paid at maturity, as selected by your client. Interest ceases at maturity.
